Is there a fine line between dementia and brilliance?

John Cameron finds out when trauma to his head suddenly leaves him living a parallel existence to England's favorite son, John Lennon! Meanwhile, his fiancée is left to struggle and devise a plan to reclaim the man she lost.

For the first time…

INSTANT TRAUMA is available to everyone! It’s exciting for us to have the Amazon platform to make this movie accessible...
Now, that is TRUE LOVE!

IT_RollingStoneCover.jpg

A little background…

It was shot in reverse order due to “Lennon’s” hair length - we had no money for a stylist or wigs. So, Clete let his hair and beard grow to the desired length, allowing us to shoot the entire movie in reverse, cutting his hair/beard as required. After 2 ½ years of weekend filming, this labor of love was completed!

Fun Facts…

(SPOILER ALERT…read after viewing the movie)

• The man playing Dr. Manship is STAR WARS matte painter, and Visual Effects Society Hall of Fame artist Harrison Ellenshaw.

• Edison Yu (one of our producers) was working a concert in Las Vegas, Nevada, and shot the time lapse footage used for the Cleveland concert.

• I booked a one-day trip to Cleveland, Ohio to shoot the exterior of the then Gund Arena. It snowed the day before and the day after, but the day I landed and shot, the weather was perfect.

• ROCK STAR, with Mark Wahlberg and Jennifer Aniston, shot scenes at Greystone Estate in Beverly Hills. Peter Rotter (our producer and brilliant composer) who was working at Greystone Estate in Beverly Hills at the time, waited for the right time and stepped out from behind bushes and filmed the limo going up the driveway. He only had one chance and nailed it. The scene is in our movie.

• Clete and Peter hid inside the kitchen pantry of Greystone mansion, and when the ROCK STAR production broke for lunch, they ran onto the set (guitars and rock memorabilia everywhere) and got the shot of “John” standing by “his” collectibles.

• Dakota was the name of a successful rock group formed by Bill Rotella. The members: Bill Rotella, Kirk Evans, Billy DiBalasi, and Cliff (Tip) Peterson, appeared in the movie. Dakota was also the name of the building in which John Lennon and Yoko lived before his death.

• The large recording studio we used for the Dakota in-studio session was out at Citrus College in Orange County, CA. We shot for a few hours, and when we wrapped, we paid the Citris College representative who oversaw the filming. Only to find out that he never gave the money to the school, and kept it for himself. That’s showbiz!

• Clete was at Universal City Walk one day when Jay Leno’s crew saw him with his long beard and asked him if it was okay to interview him for their “look alike” bit. Jay Leno asked Clete who he thought he looked like, and Clete said, “John Lennon, but mostly Ted Kaczynski, the Unabomber.” A friend of ours was working at Access Hollywood at the time and saw Clete’s segment where Jay compares Clete to John Lennon. We were able to obtain the footage, which was our impetus and motivation to start filming INSTANT TRAUMA. Mr. Leno is in our movie, but most likely has never seen INSTANT TRAUMA.

• The end shot takes place inside a bar. The only time this bar was closed, allowing us to shoot, was between 2am and 6am. So, we showed up at 2am to shoot the scene, including our friend and talented artist/photographer, John Van Vliet as the maître d’ (the creator of our magazine covers). Harrison Ellenshaw, his son, Michael, and Javier Mora were the “patrons” at the bar.

• For the Dakota concert scene in “Cleveland”, we put the members of Dakota on the roof of Harrison’s home so we could shoot a low angle – as if below the stage. Lacking a ‘real’ smoke machine, Harrison decided that burning some ivy would do the trick. It worked, however, it put out the most toxic smell ever!
