LATEST BREAKING NEWS

 19.June.2010  GINORMOUS MOVING AHEAD
The screenplay Clete wrote last year called GINORMOUS is gaining momentum to shoot in spring of 2011. Two additional producers have joined me and it's looking very promising. The plan would then be to finish GINORMOUS and go into production of ANTIQUE WHITE in spring of 2012. Keep your fingers crossed and the good wishes coming - the next 6 months will have a large impact on our future.

01.May.2010  Trailers up on YOU TUBE
Most of you know that this web site is maintained by me, Chris. Excuse me when the updating is so slow. I'm trying, okay?   :)
I've finally created and uploaded trailers of a couple more of our films onto YOU TUBE in case you can't view them on our web site (which I'll eventually fix by getting Windows versions).

I will post BEARLY ALIVE, THE LARS VAN VANDERMEER STORY soon along with a film we shot in 1984 called DEAD SILENCE.

Thanks for your patience!

3 DAYS BLIND

INSTANT TRAUMA

THE FOOL   (which has been on YOU TUBE for at least a couple years)

02.13.10  LOSING ONE OF OUR OWN IS DIFFICULT...

Dick Stampolis            Dick Stampolis

With sadness in our hearts, Dick Stampolis, the actor who played the Dad in our comedy, 3 DAYS BLIND, passed away Tuesday, February 2.

Clete met him when he was working at Theater 40 at the Greystone Mansion in Beverly Hills.  Clete called me and said he met the man who should play the part of the deceased father in 3 DAYS BLIND.  When I asked him what he meant by, “should,” Clete said  he couldn't bring himself to ask Dick to play a dead person, and that I needed to follow up and ask him.  Clete, coming from an acting background, apparently couldn’t ask a fellow actor to play a deceased person.  No lines, no action, nothing.  Keep in mind, I had called two or three other elderly actors and they were polite, but as one man told me, “I’ve been acting for 30 years.  I’m not going to play a dead person.”

So, I placed a call to Dick and the conversation, as I so clearly remember, went as such…

Chris: “Hello Mr. Stampolis, my name is Chris Keith, Clete’s brother – I believe he talked to you at Greystone the other day about our movie.”
Dick said he remembered Clete and that he had mentioned there was a part in our comedy for him to play.
Chris: “Yes, there is a part for you.
Dick: “Can you describe the part?”
Chris: “Well, you play the father of a family that is coming back together for your 70th birthday.  He’s the pivotal character of the entire movie.”
Dick: “What does he do in the movie.”
Chris: “It’s really not what you do… it’s what you represent.”
Dick: “What are my lines.”
Chris: “Well, it’s not what you say or do, it’s who you are.”
There is a silence on the other end of the line.
Chris: “Actually, you play a dead person.”
Dick: “Okay.”
Chris (still trying to show the positive side to playing this part): “It’s a very important role in that the movie centers around your part - the Father.”
More silence.
Chris: “There is another part to this character I need to tell you about."
Dick: "Okay."
You are found on top of a blow up doll.
Silence.
Chris: “And, the doll is male.”
After a short pause…
Dick: "My daughter will be so proud."

We both laughed and he was on board.  It takes a man who is confident with himself to laugh at himself, and Mr. Stampolis was exactly that person.

When he showed up on the set for his late night shoot, I thanked him for being part of this project and for playing the part of a deceased man.  He looked at me with a straight face and said, “For this scene, what’s my motivation?”  As you can see, he was never without humor and we loved him for that.  Also, what most people don’t know, is that we didn't need visual effects to clean up his footage for movement and such other than fixing an eye blink or two.  He was perfectly still and held that position for what seemed like an eternity - and he never complained take after take after take.

He was a true professional. He will be missed by all who knew him and those who worked with him. He will be missed by Clete, me and his
3 DAYS BLIND cast and crew.

Rest in peace my friend.

01.19.10   3 DAYS BLIND OFFICIALLY HAS DISTRIBUTION !
As of today, January 19, 2010, GALLOPING FILMS will distribute 3 DAYS BLIND. I don't know all the details yet but we should know soon. We are very excited at the possibility that 3 DAYS BLIND may be seen by more than the 500 who were present at our Warner Bros. premiere. I would LOVE to be able to get it into Netflix. Wouldn't that be cool. We'll see what happens.

Also on another note, RIVERCOAST FILM is showing interest in our comedy, INSTANT TRAUMA. If any film has the capability of getting a cult following, THIS ONE DOES! Stay tuned for news on that. Let's keep our fingers crossed and hopefully INSTANT TRAUMA will be available soon!

We are still after financing and Clete is thinking of writing once more. He never stops. The other half of THOSE KEITH BROTHERS - me - is starting a short project for the government. It's a short public awareness film about munitions in the desert. Long story but basically their are many areas that were used for U.S. military training grounds. These areas were cleaned of practice munitions however, there are still items that were missed out in the desert. This film will be a short primer for anyone who stumbles upon these munitions and what they should do. It's a 5 week project and should be a lot of fun.

12.11.09   BOARD OF DIRECTORS SPECIAL CHOICE AWARD of the EUGENE INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL
Obviously, and I apologize for it, I'm sooooooooo behind with updating our web site. I was back in Kentucky and Louisiana working on the visual effects for SECRETARIAT - I'm trying to pay off some of my filmmakers debt! The good news is above! We were awarded this honor on October 11, 2009 (sorry, I didn't get on the site and post it as soon as it happened).

It was funny how this festival/award all went down. Art (Executive Producer) was contacted October 8 and was told 3 DAYS BLIND was screening the next night, October 9! We had no idea we were even an OFFICIAL SELECTION of the festival before that phone call! Well, it screened to a sell out audience and obviously was extremely well received! Enough so that we won the "special" award of the festival!

As for right now, Clete and I are working on the financing for GINORMOUS, Clete's latest film. This screenplay is brilliant (Clete is amazing) and we are dedicating ourselves to making this movie! As we get closer I'll be sure and update the web site in a MUCH more timely fashion than I have up to this point. Promise. :)

07.04.09   CONTINUING TO ENTER MORE FILM FESTIVALS
Well, HAPPTY 4TH OF JULY! I'm shocked at how fast this year is progressing and I haven't figured out a way to slow it down as yet!
We didn't win any awards at SWANSEA or BRECKENRIDGE, but we had a great time watching the reaction of the crowds. It's amazing to see people we don't know laugh at 3 DAYS BLIND. It continues to prove to us it has an audience no matter the city OR country.

Clete finished another script just prior to going to BRECKENRIDGE, called GINORMOUS. I love this script and we are in the process of seeking out funding. Our goal is to be shooting this early next summer - possibly in Connecticut.

Thanks for checking in. Wish I had more to talk about right now but we will keep pushing ahead and as soon as something happens, I'll jump onto our site and update it!

I'm going to try and revamp our site so the layout is a little easier to view and find stuff (so I can start adding pictures and such) so hopefully I'll have that completed by the end of summer.
Chris

04.29.09   OFFICIAL SELECTION of the BRECKENRIDGE FILM FESTIVAL
With GREAT pleasure, we are happy to announce that 3 DAYS BLIND is an Official Selection of the 29th annual BRECKENRIDGE FILM FESTIVAL.
The Breckenridge Film Festival runs Thursday through Sunday, June 11-14, 2009.

*** The screening of 3 DAYS BLIND will be at 9 pm on Saturday, June 13 ***

So, if our last WINNING experience in Tononto was any indication, this festival should be a LOT OF FUN! Clete and I will make every effort to be there; Art Bergel (Exec. Producer) is shooting that Friday but is expected to fly into Denver on Saturday in time for the screening.

Each year, more than 150 individual volunteers, four local theaters and other venues are involved in this annual event. Breckenridge is located 80 miles west of Denver International Airport via Interstate 70.  In addition to independent filmmakers, the Breckenridge Film Festival is a host to celebrity guests, industry people and distributors. Each year, Jeffrey Lyons, Film/ Theater Critic, NBC-TV New York, co-host of NBC's "Reel Talk", the highest-rated national movie review show and his son Ben Lyons, film critic and movie expert for the E! Network, co-host the Festival.

SO... SHOW UP, SUPPORT US, AND LAUGH AT "3 DAYS BLIND" AGAIN !
WE WOULD LOVE TO SEE YOU THERE !

04.04.09   OFFICIAL SELECTION of the SWANSEA BAY FILM FESTIVAL
After submitting to three more film festivals in Germany, Japan and United Kingdom, 3 DAYS BLIND has been picked as an Official Selection to SWANSEA BAY FILM FESTIVAL in the United Kingdom - I sent out an email blast about Swansea to all who attended our Premiere screening, but forgot to update our web site!
OH GEEEEEEEEEEZE !
Being an Official Selection of the Swansea Bay Film Festival is exciting for us because now we have a chance to see how 3 DAYS BLIND performs in the UK. Arthur Bergel (Exec. Producer) will be flying over to the festival to represent us!
I'll stay right on top of it from now on and let you know what happens with all the other film fests - and any other event that happens!

03.10.09   ENTERING MORE FILM FESTIVALS
Since our win in Toronto, we have gotten a little smarter as to the festivals we enter. Now, we are targeting festivals that have a COMEDY category. At least that way we will not be up against dramas. Anyone knows that a comedy doesn't stand a chance against a drama... unless it's a COMEDY CATEGORY! :)   So, we sent to 7 more festivals yesterday, with a special thanks to Art our Exec. Producer for the funding. It's not cheap to submit to festivals. It can be anywhere from $40 on up. We've submitted to many fests so I'll update the site as soon as we hear about any other festival(s) in which we are chosen as an OFFICIAL SELECTION!

03.01.09   WINNER - BEST FEATURE - TORONTO WORLD OF COMEDY FILM FESTIVAL
In case you didn't hear about it, 3 DAYS BLIND won the Toronto World of Comedy Film Festival for BEST FEATURE ! It was really exciting for us just to be an OFFICIAL SELECTION - but WINNING the BEST FEATURE category? Icing on the cake! Art and Susan (Exec. Producers) flew in and met Clete, Bret (who played "Mickey") and myself. We had a great time in Toronto even as the weather dipped to -6 F on the final night we were there  (-30 F with wind chill). It didn't deter us.  We even walked to dinner AND performed for Bret's web site www.selftimerjump.com. This is where you use a still camera with a self timer. The trick is to time your jump so your body is at the highest point when the flash goes off. It's impossible not to laugh - especially when in public! BRET, CLETE AND I WERE JUMPING AT -30. It took us many times to get the timing down because it was so cold, the battery slowed the timer. Crazy fun.

02.16.09   WORLD OF COMEDY FILM FESTIVAL INFORMATION
If you happen to be in the Toronto area, and want to go to the film festival and see 3 DAYS BLIND, here is the info you will need:
3 DAYS BLIND will screen on Sunday, March 1 at 1:00 PM. The theater name location is:
TOWN HALL THEATRE, Innis College, 2 Sussex Avenue (2 blocks south of Bloor on St. George street - use Sussex entrance)

02.13.09   FRIDAY THE 13TH IS LUCKY FOR US!
We received word today that we are an OFFICIAL SELECTION at the WORLD OF COMEDY FILM FESTIVAL in Toronto, Canada!
This is our first invitation to screen 3 DAYS BLIND for a film festival audience - and hopefully this is just the start!

01.22.09   PREMIERE AT THE ROSS THEATER IS A SMASHING SUCCESS !
How much fun was the premiere?! Clete and I had a blast. The only problem was we felt like we were at a wedding and we were blowing off 500 guests. There just wasn't enough time to talk to that many people in that little time. We started late due to the size of the crowd, in addition to appropriate thank you's by SUSAN FOWLER, ARTHUR BERGEL, CLETE and me to those who made it all possible. There was laughter throughout the entire movie and great buzz outside the theater as the audience filed outside. Rain was threatening but didn't... THANK YOU! We had THOSE KEITH BROTHERS and 3 DAYS BLIND up in lights on the marquee. I will get pictures up on this site soon.

Now, we MUST use the momentum to get financing to get our next movie going. It's always tough but we'll do it somehow.

01.10.09   THE ROSS THEATER IS SOLD OUT !
As of yesterday, we have reached our maximum for the Ross Theater on the Warner Bros. lot for our Premiere Screening, January 22, 2009. We are all very excited and hope everyone has a good time. We're even going to have "3 DAYS BLIND" on the marquee!!!!!!!!!!! :)

LOTS OF THINGS TO DO! As I've said before, COMEDY IS SERIOUS BUSINESS!

12.17.08
3 DAYS BLIND was conformed at L.A. Digital and was completed flawlessly by Jeremy Becker. We also had time to conform our 3 DAYS BLIND trailer as well. Now that the movie is conformed (all the master tapes have been aligned with the temp "work picture"), the next step is to Color Correct. That will begin this Friday, on the 26th of December. If all goes according to plan, it will take a total of 5 days.

12.09.08
We were at ADVANTAGE AUDIO today for our "3 DAYS BLIND" ADR session. We had Rad Daly, Christopher Best, and Bret Anthony in for some line readings. As usual when we're at ADVANTAGE AUDIO, it went very smoothly and professionally. I LOVE Advantage Audio and the people who work there. They have supported me from the beginning and are still behind Those Keith Brothers 100%. We can't thank them enough.

11.27.08

LA Digital Post installed a full Final Cut Pro editing system in my apartment. Thank God for that company and it's President, Gary Migdal. Great group of engineers and techs. I could not have started to complete this movie without their help!
I spent approximately 90 hours (over the course of one week) digitizing the 36 hours of HDcam footage into the computer. Then, I started editing. I'm not fast but I think it will turn out just fine. - for more info, see 3 DAYS BLIND or go directly to 3 DAYS BLIND Day to Day.
